We use them at work. They are quite handy, as the can transfer different amounts of power, data and pneumatic as well as optical signal.

For Industrial cells. its great to make the cells modular, for example, you have a universal trayloading cell and a process specific cell. You can just use the universal trayloading cell for every other process specific cell without changing anything on the hardware as its just plug and go (And teach in but oh well).
