A new study conducted by Boston University shows that the degenerative brain disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy was discovered in more than 40% of athletes who were exposed to repetitive head trauma and died before age 30.

This is a huge part of why I have nothing but contempt for PED users in combat sports.

Choosing to fight means agreeing to be at extremely high risk of developing CTE, when everyone plays by the rules. PEDs enable fighters to strike harder, at a higher rate, over a longer duration.

It isn't simply cheating, it's a legitimate threat to long term health and wellbeing.
