Why is merchandise like T-shirts, water bottles etc so expensive? (lemmy.ml)

Merchandise of content creators, companies and organizations are really expensive. For example, A T-shirt from lttstore costs $20. That is expensive. I don't live in the USA so after conversion, the price becomes high.

I'd say they're simply taking advantage of the demand. one's you've built a fanbase, fans will shell out the money, even if the merch is overpriced
