Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Ohh okay, might give an Arch based distro a try then. Not Manjaro though, I don't like the project leaders after the whole treasurer fiasco.
You will probably have a bad time with anything other than Manjaro coming from Ubuntu, especially normal Arch.
I would say give Manjaro a try first and only of you like arch based stuff switch to something else later.
And IMHO the treasurer story was a storm in the waterglass issue that really was much less problematic than some people claim.
Try Manjaro Gnome with Gnome Tweaks
