I am of the opinion that Mark giving him the title mid season is stupid, let him play it out, remember that he’s well loved and how the team played for him, and keep the record in consideration. If someone like Ben Johnson is interested, we should be open to that possibility rather than lock ourselves into AP this early.
We need to stop being reactive and get a 5-10 year plan I’m sick of being terrible.
Our last two 5-10 year plans have ended horribly. If Pierce does well from here on out then I say hire him. He definitely has the Raiders swagger that we've been missing for years. The contract we would give him would probably be relatively cheap too, and if the team struggles the next 2 years we could get rid of him cheaply.
We should consider other coaches too but Mark has not made good hires.
I'm with you on this one. AP looks like a Raiders coach. He carries himself like one. X's and O's are important but they're not everything. Sometimes charisma and leadership can outweighs that. And I also don't think AP is ignorant of x's and o's either. He was a MLB for a super bowl team. The captain and qb of that Giants defense. He understands coverages and offensive schemes. For me, i wamt to see him beat Miami AND kc once. If he can do that, he should get the job. Getting us competitive with kc is a huge step up imo. This season feels different. It feels like 2021 but without us needing lucky breaks in the last 3 games. The guys are playing inspired ball and I think if they win tomorrow that could carry them into the playoffs with the confidence it builds.
Im confused under what circumstance would mark give him the title mid season. We are literally mid season today, he's not being named the head coach any time soon.
Why keep a well loved interim coach who's kicking ass when you can hire an OC who's an offensive genius and hope that he also has HC abilities? What could possibly go wrong?
