Maybe they have a required yearly subscription. I'm sure they are sharing all the data they can because they are losing money on the hardware.
The "full" price is £70 odd, which probably covers manufacturing costs. This is a black friday deal, presumably to clear out old stock. The spec is not particularly new but would work okay for many / most needs - assuming it isn't junk for other reasons...
