Canada’s law expands the territory where big tech platforms are forced to pay for news and could lead to similar laws passing in larger markets, including Brazil, Britain and the United States.

Really stupid law, C-18. It's going to hurt the media more than help it because of course nobody is going to link to someone you need to pay just to link to!

Or it turns into a big tech/big media cartel that shuts out smaller players

Just means big media (which is dying) drags big tech down with it.
