And every self-checkout closed is a few more people in work getting paid for their labour, unlike the mugs struggling with self-checkout who aren't even getting a discount for using the scab tills

If you want people to work simply for the sake of money, why not just give them money directly and not have them work? The work is clearly not necessary if it can be automated away that easily.
