Estimated tax return without the LTMI offset is sadddd 😢

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago

Yeah... I think it's a really big hit to a huge chunk of the population to NOT have it. Imagine if they'd just tax the fucking rich for that amount instead.

I saw my estimate too and it made me sad. I really needed the LMITO this year.

I should be glad that the estimate didn’t come back as me owing money to them.

Anyway I’m still waiting hit all the pre fill information to be lodged.

Now that I'm a rich investor (with a whole $500 invested in an ETF) I won't get all the information until mid August. ETF's pass on some capital gains & taxes and it takes them a while to put all the information together, something I didn't realise was a thing, so last year I ended up having to ammend my tax return after that arrived. I ended up having to pay the tax office 17c back 🤣

Oh Jesus Christ I decided to give it a go and I get back $250??????????? I've gotten back 4 figure amounts before in past years. This is fucked. I have nothing to look forward to

Seriously need to rethink my life choices

What exactly am I supposed to be getting out of these tax changes as a sub 80k earning pleb, what the hell. I'm genuinely kind of upset now. This is going to significantly change my approach to my annual review next week
