Wtf. They only plan to make the client code FLOSS.

Yeah this seems very strange. This is a closed source terminal, why would anyone want to use that?
Plus we already have a fast rust terminal, alacritty.

But can you be a Smart AI DevOps Cloud ArchitEngineer RockStar with it?
Imagine using a terminal that spies on you.
To be very honest, feature-wise this looks pretty great to me but it being close-sourced and connected to the cloud makes it a complete no-go for me.
If it goes open-source, maybe there'll be a selfhosted option for the server-side features? Idk, sharing a terminal is kind of weird though
If they ever open-source I'd like to use it without the server at all.
I wish they had picked a name besides warp, given that there is already a web framework with that name. Now any crates will be fighting over the single namespace on crates.io. Yet another reason to move to namespaced crates IMHO.
But promises are not sure. If something is going to be ethical and think on it, should be like that in the beginning.
Less excuses with the current state of the world.
Edited: its website is slow even in Fennec F-Droid.
Yes, indeed. Will they ever make it open source, and what about server and client parts ? - I was reluctant to post this on Lemmy but I thought this idea of hiring developers for a terminal app was kind of crazy (in a bewildering and somewhat positive sense), and the rather interesting concept of the terminal app for teams itself could maybe be useful to inspire others.
Oh, I understood.
I didn't think in that possibility, to inspire other.
