Yeah they are nothing special, just designating this as a bicycle through lane, which keeps priority on the bicycles, instead of a car priority "bicycles dismount" style.
Yep! It's a good article from the CBC. I think they explain it well. As a cyclist, it's good to get this information out in the wild for people who aren't aware. I've been almost hit by enough cars 😅

Just like pedestrians, cyclists should stop and look both ways to ensure the road is clear or cars have stopped before crossing.
The optimism here is only overshadowed by he comedic value of a statement like this.
