Generally sums up the issue, except it's not just "boomers." It's like a lot of developers want to be the king of their barren kingdom, not adding anything new to this software that is also not for sale, or updated anymore, becoming increasingly more difficult to use on modern operating systems. "I made this, I am its master, I get control of this dead piece of software."
