the red speckled one is kinda scary, it looks like it's covered in blood.

We had some really bad rain recently and the lettuces that didn't drown (or didn't get smashed by hail), suffocated in the following heatwave, two days later. Enjoy your lettuces!!!

I have that same lettuce, but always label it as “spotted lettuce” because there’s no chance I can spell or pronounce that name.

Totally! They sell it here as Freckles (which is actually a cute name!) as well. It’s an old Austrian variety and I find the name nice and unique. I also speak German so I have an unfair advantage.

I didn’t plant kale but the Swiss chard is coming as well.
