Another one is moving back to NB! Let’s bring them all home.

[–] bowreality 3 points 2 days ago

That’s how it’s done!

Thanks. At least this one is alcohol free. Maybe I pick some up to try out. I still have some Thayers so should be easy to compare.

Thayers Witch hazel facial toner. I have seen a couple of Canadian products but not with the same/similar ingredients.

Unique Appliances and Danby have dishwasher. Also several European brands like Electrolux and Miele.

Exactly! My preferred way to go.

And food safety was questionable before. We stopped buying cantalopes and onions from the US years ago. I rather do without than get ecoli or listeria.

The longer she stays, the more crap she does and says, the harder for people to justify this nutcase. And the US threats have even hardcore conservatives’ neck hair up. They don’t trust her not to sell us out. I believe a very, VERY small group actually wants to join the US.

You probably can call and put tickets on hold for game day. I think I remember us doing it before. I quit Ticketmaster ages ago and definitely didn’t buy from them. We had season tickets for a while but picked up extra tickets for friends.

I haven’t been in a few years but you used to be able to buy them at the stadium. You can even go days before. Maybe check the flames homepage and look for their hours / call ahead?

He can keep his crap

I hope it’s ok to ask here. I want to switch from Plex but it seems the latest install won’t work on my older AMD MacMini. There isn’t a way around it I assume?

I am having an idea for a bag and I believe I have seen this technique somewhere before. I just have no idea what it’s called and hence have a hard time finding a video or instructions.

Essentially I want a round corner the comes out a bit and then the gusset over the two sides. I believe I have seen an approach where you cut a side piece with rounded corners and then cut perpendicular into the middle of the corner. Then sew that cut and turn over. The corner sticks out essentially and the side is then attached to a long piece that runs from one side around as bottom and up on the other side.

I am not sure if I am explaining this well enough to ID. I will try to find a pic.

I just posted on Mastodon about these greeting cards and figured I post here as well. Beautiful handmade cards from Chilliwack BC. I just got my first order and I am very happy. Go check them out!

Didn’t have many subscriptions (all US are cancelled) and was mostly eating Canadian food already. Swapping now what else is left … what now? I am so mad at the USA I need something else to take my anger out on.

Canadian appliances (self.buycanadian)

I just found this community on Lemmy! Yay! I have been posting a bunch of #BuyCanadian on Mastodon so far. I’ll start posting here as well.

Here is one of my previous posts that I think isn’t discussed much yet. Canadian appliances are a thing. Danby and Salton have small kitchen appliances but there is at least also this:

I am really intrigued by this Canadian appliance brand. I heard Costco sells them too. Does anybody have one of their ranges or fridges? https://uniqueappliances.com/collections/

Has anybody read it yet? I am about halfway through. And wow. I learned a ton so far.

Fiebings Pro dye and Barge won’t be sold in Canada any longer. Law change starting 2024 banning both products in Canada because of VOCs.

Software for pattern design (self.leathercraft)
submitted 2 years ago by bowreality to c/leathercraft

If you like to design your own patterns check out Affinity Designer. Blows my mind!

Quick to learn how to draw patterns, easy to resize and so so much more.

Here is a great example from today: I tried to figure out how to get the length of the one side of an odd shaped part of my pattern. I know the measuring tool in Affinity but it seemed to only do straight lines, distance between objects or area.

Quick search and I learned I can break the curve points and then it shows me the length of the different sides and the area 🤯

Extremely handy especially when working with zippers in a certain size.

I also can export as svg or pdf. Print and cut your patterns (pdf) or if you have a Cricut or Silhouette (svg), cut the patterns with that! Or even the leather if not too thick.

I am considering selling some patterns in the future and I can even toss in the afdesign file for people so they can adjust what they want.

Affinity Designer btw is super affordable especially compared to Adobe Illustrator and such. If I remember correctly there is free 30 day trial.

Anybody else using Affinity Designer?

Do I see all comments? (self.lemmy_ca_support)

I am moderating this sub and it shows 4 comments. I only see 3?! https://lemmy.ca/post/1528939 Does anybody else see 4? I am a bit concerned if there are 4 and I can see only 3 (2 are mine). As a moderator that would be no good.

Repairs (self.leathercraft)
submitted 2 years ago by bowreality to c/leathercraft

I recently watched this video by Corter and it was a bit of an aha moment.

Whether it’s repair, changing the thread colour or in my case fixing some mistakes … I love how leather products can be opened up and redone. Not everything of course but the stitch line is fairly simple to revamp, billets are quickly replaced and even edges can be re-burnished.

I love the 2nd bag that I ever made a lot but it was my second bag. I had missed a whole and one corner was therefore off, I attached the buckle upside down (it works but looks off) and a seam was opening up. Burnished edges weren’t good yet.

So I sat down today and fixed it all. It was easier than I thought and it’s a nice upgrade! I wish I had taken before and after pics.
