People don't even know how amazing KDE connect is until they try it.
Linux
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

True, it's a lot more than just transferring files.
I use it for everything. Remote input allows me to use my computer while I lay on the sofa.
I use KDE Connect on the phone and GSConnect to sync it with Gnome
Question, while not paired with any computer, does the andorid app consumes too much batter trying to find devices to pair with?
I never noticed it was making any real difference on my Android phone, but it is easy to double-check under battery usage stats per app.
Thx !
I tried it, but my devices couldn't find each other, probably because my WLAN has another network range than my LAN.
You should fix that :) Probably a wifi-router that is connected to the main LAN via the WAN port (and active DHCP server).
I have a LAN/WAN/DMZ/WLAN setup at home with a hardware firewall behind my ISP router. I don't really feel the need to change that either. :D
there is no reason it shouldn't work accross subnet if you open the right ports and input the IP manually for the first run. All of that is explained in op's link.
