I just wanted to share my experience using REW and MiniDSP. Long story short if you are not happy with Audyseey and want to actually see what your subs are doing one of the best ways is to use REW and MiniDSP. I am shocked how much better my entire system sounds now. Plus I have four presets that I can adjust with one button depending on what I am listening to.

I have three subwoofers in my system, a PSA TV3602 (dual 18's) top of the line HSU ported 15' sub and a much older Velodyne 15' sub. Using a Denon 4500H reciever.

I have never been completely happy with the bass and thought I needed to get another sub, or switch out a sub to a better one. Before I bought another sub I thought I would try MiniDSP and REW, after a steep learning curve. I finally got results that I like.

I wanted to share my experience with Audyseey for some reason it really sucked out all of my bass. I even bought the $20 app and spent a lot of time tinkering around with it, but I felt like something was lacking. With the app I was able to get better results, but I am kinda shocked that Audyseey lowered the bass as much as it did. so much without the app adjustments. Audyseey without the APP adjustments is the red graph. Which I think was way worse than using no processing at all, which is the green graph. Finally with the last graph I was able to get a flat response using the EQ and time alignment feature in REW and the MiniDSP. I know this is not optimal for home theater but it sounds great in stereo when listening to music, which is a preset I was never able to have with the Denon by itself.

Three Subs with only Audyseey with no smoothing

Three subs with Minidsp and Rew no smoothing

I forgot to add this it is my House Curve for movies.
