While trying to assemble the Chief elite mount (), I open these 4 screws (purple arrows) in the base plate and a spring (red arrow) falls out.

I have spent couple of hours trying to see where to put this spring back and also scanned the manual but I am unable to see how to put it back. It does still seem to work even without this spring though. I'm a bit scared since I need to mount the giant Epson LS11000.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!
