Hi all,
Hope someone can assist in my query.
I've just upgraded my old Marantz NR1602 AVR to the STR AN1000 which specifically for movies sounds absolutely fantastic. My problem is when I use it to play games through the PC.
I don't have any issues with the sound being output. My issue is that no matter what I set on the PC whether 5.1 or 7.1 or ATMOS (the receiver recognises these when I switch the TV to the PC input) when I'm playing a game the audio only comes through the front 2 speakers and the sub. To put it bluntly, it sounds absolutely horrendous.
On the old Marantz AVR with an optical cable I'd passthrough to the AVR from the TV and the old AVR allowed me to simply select Dolby PL2 (Movie/Game/Music) which I know is simply an upscaling codec but it sounded fantastic.
I've gone through every single audio selection on the AMP and none sound particularly great and ALL of them default to the 2.1. In my search I stumbled across a lot of people complaining about LPCM with the PS5 and while mileage may vary you have the option to force bitstream and apparently that sounds good.
My issue is really that no matter whether I use the auto tuning or manually tune it myself, the problem is simply that games off the PC only play as 2.1 audio for me and for the life of me I can't find a fix or find a way to force the AMP to play something similar to PL2 (I know it's decades old but none of the new codecs work).
Anyone had issues like this with PC specifically?
(It's not all that important but the speakers are 5x Minx 22, 2x Minx 10 [for ATMOS], 2x X500 CA subs)
