do you think they're good? Should every post be crossposted to all the sublemmies that it fits in?

On one hand, it reaches more people, on the other hand, it'd be annoying if it is posted on several communities I subscribe to.

It'd be nice if Lemmy merge them. (Do they?)

As long as it fits the community it's cross-posted on, I think it's nice since not everyone is following every community.

I can see how this is an upside. Couldn't it be annoying as well?

iirc if a post which has a body is cross-posted, the cross-post displays the body as a quote so if you cross-post a cross-post (and so on) it might be a mess. (I'm not sure about this though)

If we could merge them like @[email protected] suggested, that would be a killer feature and solve essentially all the problems. The other thing that I always see requested related to crossposts is that the original poster should get half the karma/rep/points.

Wouldn't merging them also merge the discussions?

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 3 years ago

I think that would be a good thing. A really unique feature that would bring people from two or more different communities together.

Perhaps, but not necessarily. They could just be merged superficially, that is, you only see it once in your feed, but each crosspost still has its own comment section in its respective community.

depends on if the post is:

  1. important
  2. good

edit:
3) unrelated

I usually crosspost the tilvids post to other communities as well

I'd post it on 2 sublemmies max
