TBF, to combat Kedavra with a disarmer requires such a strong Expelliarmus that he might as well have returned a killing cirse
Imagine that hit someone directly, probably would have ripped the whole arm off.
Expelliarmus isn't a second year spell. They were taught it in second year in order to "prepare them" since, ya know, Voldemort had been to the school the previous year.
