Ergonomic, split and other weird keyboards

Rules

Keep it ergo

Posts must be of/about keyboards that have a clear delineation between the left and right halves of the keyboard, column stagger, or both. This includes one-handed (one half doesn't exist, what clearer delineation is that!?)

i.e. no regular non-split¹ row-stagger and no non-split¹ ortholinear²

¹ split meaning a separation of the halves, whether fixed in place or entirely separate, both are fine.
² ortholinear meaning keys layed out in a grid

@ergomechkeyboards MX Ergo 3D scan
Hey everyone, I'm working on making my own trackball, and the shell design is kicking my ass because I'm also learning cad on the way.

Does anyone have a 3d scanner they can use to create an approximate model of the MX Ergo mouse so I can study it? Going off photos, I just don't see the shape.

This is what I got so far:

@ergomechkeyboards The one in the photos is meant to be inspired by MX ergo but not a total copy, but the shape feels a bit off still. And I want to learn more to design for manufacturability.

What sort of file would you need? I have an MX ergo and I believe there’s a few apps that can generate a 3D scan with an iPhone.

@CoffeeBot anything, a point cloud or STL or whatever :)

@CoffeeBot I think the lidar resolution is quite low, I remember it was on the scale of centimiters when I tried

Yeah I was trying and it feels like I need a turntable or something to take a reliable scan
