Yeah, many rail sections in Europe are not electrified. Battery-electric is definitely better than diesel.

"has died a quick death" seems like a bit of stretch. The article itself lists other countries which are testing and trying to adopt the hydrogen trains as well.

@bossito It's not even started. Just recently Alstom and a local company won a tender in Romania (Couldn't find an English source so you'll have to rely on this Google Translated one). They'll service routes from Bucharest to the airport, as well as some going all the way to Pitești and even Craiova (which is already quite far for a regional train, even).
