There is the Librem 5 also, suprised that wasnt included. Its the only one with 100% free software (FSF definition) I believe.

Community about running GNU/Linux on phones. Projects like Ubuntu Touch, Plasma Mobile, PostmarketOS, Mobian etc. Either on former Android phones or hardware like the PinePhone.

Not really. The PinePhone requires no userland blobs anywhere. I guess you could say the modem isn't entirely free yet, but even that is being worked on. The first people have already got postmarketOS and buildroot with mainline Linux running on it to replace the original firmware.
Would this device be rootable?
You mean PinePhone? You have root privileges by default. No bootloader unlocking, magisk flashing required. If you are using Linux, you may need root with GloDroid.
As soon as freebsd supports appimages I'm going to switch to it as a GPU-less desktop default. But with mobile it would take an immense amount of effort. I will consider donating if I believe that this is a viable idea, because what sandboxing do we really need on a phone when there are jails?
