Took me a minute to realize it was the Onion.
Isn't that the r strategy in general?

Yep. It's the strategy to ensure people remain desperate and too afraid to do anything.
How long until Florida reintroduces "apprenticeship programs" to deal with the shortage of agriculture workers their immigration policy has created.
Somehow, this feels like less of a joke than the real events it's based on.
Onion used to do satire. Now it's just a prediction machine.
