  • Brush: Stirling 24mm Synthetic
  • Blade: Dorco SD507 disposable (3)
  • Lather: House of Mammoth - Mood Indigo - Soap
  • Post Shave: Pinaud - Clubman - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Goodfellow & Co. - Face Lotion - Kelp & Sea Mineral

A very early morning, but that's ok. I should be home by 1:30pm (13:30 for some of if you) so it's worth it.

This will be the end of this Mood Indigo stretch. I think my nose did get better overall at learning what to smell, but it's still a light (but good) scent.

You probably know this but 13:30 is the 24-hour clock. 1330 would be Military Time. My New Year's resolution is to be less of a stickler :)

Mood Indigo++; // (Mood )?Indigo in EBNF (again being the stickler)

I was trying to appease our more, shall we say, "European", users. I believe they use the colon, but I'm often wrong about these things.

I've never heard of EBNF and after a quick search I don't think I have any interest in learning! I only know the "++" from other shavers, and learned years after the fact that it was some sort of programming nomenclature.

EBNF

EBNF is some heady shit, I don't blame you for having no interest in learning it. It does allow you to describe syntax with a level of precision that's quite impressive though. It's satisfying in a very nerdy kind of way.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

It does appeal to me, as I've always had an interest in being able to use computers to their fullest potential, but I've also always been bad a learning new languages.

As a European, I hope you in the US use your colon too - how does digestion work otherwise?! /s πŸ˜‚

Joking aside, you're exactly right. Except (most parts) of the UK, Europe mostly uses a 24-hour system for our time telling needs. I personally think that's a bit more intuitive on digital clocks, but even some analog clocks over here reflect this by having their 24h equivalent either above or below the number in the 12h circle. We also seem to have fewer time zones: essentially PorkButtsNTaters666, djundjila and me share the same time zone despite living in different countries.

ENBF sounds about as interesting as a 7 hour long slideshow about the cultivation of potatoes in Prussia, but the "++" stuff stuck around and I don't mind it at all. I thought it was just something from ProgrammerHumor though, since C++ is a programming language.

++ and -- are increment and decrement short-hand operators in C-style programming languages.

In other words, they either mean add 1 to this value (++), or subtract 1 from this value (--).

Thanks! I think that makes perfect sense.

Yes, us programming geeks get way too accustomed to communicating in coding shorthand.

  • Brush: Zenith MOAR BOAR
  • Razor: EldrormR Industries MM24
  • Blade: GEM PTFE [4]
  • Lather: Barrister & Mann - Vespers - Soap
  • Post Shave: Stirling Soap Co. - Unscented - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Stirling Soap Co. - Unscented - Balm
  • Osma: Osma - Osma
  • Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery - G20

Rarely do shaves go this well. Vespers felt like the perfect scent for the downslope of the holiday season, and the MM24 made it an absolutely smooth shave with no irritation. Happy New Year all!

  • Brush: Chisel & Hound Classic 26mm V23 Fanchurian

  • Razor: J.A. Henckels Friodur 472 13/16" Full Hollow Square Point

  • Lather: Summer Break Soaps - Wood Shop - Soap

  • Toner: Thayers - Rose - Toner

  • Aftershave: Summer Break Soaps - Wood Shop - Aftershave

3 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Wood Shop has so much character to it. Great soap and scent. I find myself doing more 3-pass shaves these days. This is definitely a holdover from BBS November.

  • Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Manchurian
  • Razor: GEM Micromatic Flying Wing (NOS, chrome plated)
  • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE
  • Lather: Chicago Grooming Co. / House of Mammoth – ArmonΓa
  • Post Shave: Chicago Grooming Co. / House of Mammoth – ArmonΓa
  • Fragrance: Chatillon Lux - Weinstrasse

Very nice MMMMFF shave tonight. I'm really enjoying this Simpson brush now that it's not losing so many hairs anymore (5 today, 7 yesterday, 11 the day before).

I've started casually hunting for a Flying Wing. The aesthetic is very pleasing to me.

I did just get a MMOC though, and I'm waiting on a replacement head for my MM24. Trying to remind myself just one thing at a time, but they're just so damn affordable on the bay. :)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Flying Wing is a must-have.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I prefer the Clog-pruf, you might just have to get all three Micromatics to make sure... @[email protected] does your MMOC have the raised dots that turn it down a bit?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Agreed. Best to cover all of your bases to ensure the best shave possible.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

It does not. So far I have a first gen MMOC (the one without bumps), a first gen Clog Pruf, and a MM24 that I’m waiting to return after a head repair.

I think the Flying Wing makes all 3, no? Unless I want to collect every iteration of each as well…

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

The flying wing is not only super pretty, it's also a great razor. You're unlikely to be disappointed

I managed to tighten slightly the Russian Bear - the blade is still not completely centered, but it is not a problem anymore. Good to be back home!

Have a good night!

I love the shape of that brush handle, looks like it’d be a pleasure to use.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

It's very good - @[email protected] does great work!
