I can see your reply :) but if it isn’t directed at me I can’t see it
Why would you see a reply that wasn't directed at you? I don't understand what you're trying to accomplish. What did you expect to happen? And what happened instead?
I can only see comments that are replies. No other comments on posts show up even though I know they’re there.
How are comments different from replies?
If you open a post and people replied to that post there are comments. They didn’t necessarily reply to you.
ohh. you will not get notifications for those. or I don't using Photon anyway. you only get notifications on comments posted to your posts, replies to your comments, or direct messages
I’m not saying I don’t get notified. I’m saying they’re not on these posts at all from my instance. They haven’t federated.

Yes! I imported my subs but I also unsubed and resubed
Not sure. Check if your system is dropping connections from other instances in proxy. Check logs of lemmy as well for errors. Check federation state with other instances.
