Shot for all the epic suggestions team. After reading through everything and having a yarn with the missus, reckon I've got a solid plan sorted:

Short term:

  • Signed up for Level 1 Te Reo at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa starting next month. Figure if I'm gonna be here long term, should probably learn how to pronounce more than just "kia ora" without sounding like a complete muppet
  • Getting my barista certification at Mojo next month. The idea of making flat whites and having a laugh with random punters for a few mornings a week sounds bloody choice. Plus the wife reckons I need to get out of the house before she throttles me
  • Joined Wellington Tramping Club - first trip is next weekend up to Powell Hut. Hoping I don't completely embarrass myself or need a rescue chopper

Longer term:

  • Looking at volunteering with DOC doing predator control work. Some GC in the comments mentioned helicoptering into remote areas which sounds mint
  • Gonna hold off on the lifestyle block dreams for now after reading horror stories about citidiots trying farming. Maybe start with a veggie garden that isn't completely munted first
  • Not touching Warhammer with a 40,000 foot pole after those comments about going broke. Four mil isn't THAT much when plastic crack's involved apparently

Cheers for keeping me grounded and stopping me from doing anything too stupid with the windfall. Special thanks to the "congrats and fuck you" guy - got a proper laugh out of that one.
