Just curious if you will eventually be able to post something from a Mastodon account to Lemmy or vice verse. Or at least follow something on Lemmy from Mastodon.

This is not a priority for us now. It will probably work at some point, but it might take a long time. Pleroma will likely be first, because a maintainer is helping us to fix incompatibilities.

Pleroma is super! Will be happy, if lemmy supports pleroma!

But, if pleroma is supported... also Mastodon should be... it's the same api, as far as i know.

I heard that Mastodon uses an older version of HTTP Signatures which is incompatible with ours, and there might be more such problems. These can easily add up. In the end it depends on someone to find these incompatibilities, so they can be fixed in Lemmy or Mastodon.

As @[email protected] said, for now we're focusing on community following (reddit), rather than user-following (twitter). Eventually we will add user following but it will be a long time.

Just out of curiosity: I always thought Mastodon was a metal band...please explain.

Its a social network, like Twitter with ActivityPub (same protocol Lemmy uses).
