We have a new release for you. Vivaldi 7.1 on Windows, Mac and Linux.

My favorite new feature is the weather widget. I have added 4 of them. Allows me to see weather and time in 4 different places.

Enjoy!

I hate Widgets.
Is there a deb package yet?
I'd try Vivaldi if there was a real install package for debian/mint etc.

Head over to https://vivaldi.com/download/ and click on the arrow next to the download button to select a different version.

Works as well as Firefox & Chromium, though the blocking is less flexible than uMatrix.

Maybe a bit faster.

Most annoying is that it doesn't have per-site "memory" of download location (Falkon also has that flaw and the huge menus for copy, especially multilevel to copy image.

Of course like almost everyone else:
All the defaults are pretty dumb and you have search web to see how to copy them to other computers.
Tabs sit above Address bar, if top, otherwise attach to page. Only Falkon seems to do Tabs on page now.

Also
Importing anything from Firefox failed
Copy Image is in nested menus. Why?
Doesn't remember download folder per site, only last, like Falkon.
Wasted big margins on speed dial thumbnails Window Left & Right
Ignores OS theme and default flat.

@[email protected] @[email protected] Does drag-and-drop upload work on the new version? Or is there just something wrong with mine and it should have worked?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Drag-and-drop to upload a file worked fine on a couple of websites I tested it on. 🤔

Try it in a Guest Profile (https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/tabs/guest-view/) or a new User Profile (https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/tools/user-profiles/). If it works there, something in the main profile is causing the issue.
Check out this Help page to troubleshoot the issue: https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/troubleshoot/troubleshooting-issues/.

If it happens in a clean profile as well, please file a bug with a detailed description of the issue on https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/.

@[email protected] Thanks for the troubleshooting instructions! I was able to discover that the problem lies with the Flatpak version. I installed it from the Vivaldi website and drag-and-drop works fine. In the Linux Mint software manager, only the Flatpak is available to install.

One of our devs did a little investigation and found that it's an issue with filesystem access.
We'll try to fix it on our side, but as a quick fix he suggested looking for "All user files" using Flatseal (https://flathub.org/apps/com.github.tchx84.Flatseal) and allowing filesystem=home permission for Vivaldi.

@[email protected] @[email protected] Would be nice if you could get it to change every, say 15 seconds so you only needed one.

I guess that would be an option for the future. I kind of like having more of them as it does not require me to wait.

@[email protected] @[email protected] Could make it so you could click through them or add left and right arrows to cycle them faster. Really depends how many other widgets people have and how much space becomes a premium.

There are options. We will have to see what we can do.
