I'm optimistic that China will start using soft power to actively promote socialism around the world having seen the positive interactions on XHS between Chinese and American citizens. I think this sort of communication will also be critical in avoiding conflict going forward. The more people learn about each other the harder it will be to drum up support for war. A cultural exchange on this scale simply wasn't possible before the internet, and I think this is one of the best uses of this technology.
The issue is that western social media are full to brim with anti-Chinese disinformation. Wouldn’t that negatively affect the views of Chinese people in regards to China?
I don't think it's going to be that much of a problem in practice because people know what their own country is like. Lived experience always trumps propaganda, hence why people in US increasingly aren't buying westen propaganda at this point.
