I believe I have seen this posted before, albeit on a different /c/. Nevertheless, the author states Mastodon being a protocol, and that is not entirely correct. Not sure though whether that matters for his audience.
Technology
A nice place to discuss rumors, happenings, innovations, and challenges in the technology sphere. We also welcome discussions on the intersections of technology and society. If it’s technological news or discussion of technology, it probably belongs here.
Remember the overriding ethos on Beehaw: Be(e) Nice. Each user you encounter here is a person, and should be treated with kindness (even if they’re wrong, or use a Linux distro you don’t like). Personal attacks will not be tolerated.

for those wondering: activitypub is the protocol which mastodon (and lemmy!) uses.
You're right. I mostly do a search before posting but I probably forgot to do that in this case. Also seeing that renowned journalists making these mistakes that could easily have been avoided with just a little bit of research is worrying.
It's really refreshing seeing sensible discourse, I find myself doing a double take reading two people respectfully disagree with two very valid points of view.
I still have a feeling that it's because it's not mainstream yet, though. Most posts don't have (relatively) many replies and maybe people feel heard without having to create drama?
