One thing about the kids for anyone who has not read them all is she has explained in a comic note here and there that she offsets them by 2 years so they have time to sorta object at some point to being in the comic with nothing being to recent about them, however the things around her and her husband are by and large about current time. The kids are also about two years apart I think. There is definitely a much more Laissez-faire with the second child which seems like a common things with parents as they stress about every little thing with the first kid. Anyway just some perspective since today is a kids oriented happening in the comic which means it likely happened about two years ago.
