Hey look! The PC holdouts who refused to budge on PSN requirements are getting what they want!

Good job, I honestly thought Sony would be too stubborn to change. They must want more money on PC.

I wonder if this'll still be restricted to only PSN markets, since the account is optional.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft saying you'll be able to play Xbox games on the Switch 2, implying that Game Pass is coming to Switch 2, was the thing that finally kicked their asses and gear and made them realize they were being fucking stupid trying to have so much control while Microsoft is out here with even tighter controls and a cheaper model (in a lot of gamers' eyes at least, those who don't care about things like longevity of studios or actual ownership of a product as opposed to rental licensing).

Sorry for the run-on sentence I don't feel like fixing it.

My interest for God of War Ragnarök has returned!

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 day ago

I didn't think Sony would back down so I already accepted that I'll never play Ragnarok. But now I guess I can wait until it's 90% off

"However, to incentivize you to still sign in with a PSN account while playing those games, Sony says that it will “soon” be adding “in-game content unlocks” like outfits and resources."

This is a half win.

What is stopping them from reintroducing those requirements in the future?

However, to incentivize you to still sign in with a PSN account while playing those games, Sony says that it will “soon” be adding “in-game content unlocks” like outfits and resources. You can see the full list of bonuses in Sony’s blog post about the news

Game Bribe
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Early unlock suits: the Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit and the Miles Morales 2099 Suit
God of War Ragnarok Gain access to the Armor of the Black Bear set for Kratos at the first Lost Items chest in the Realm Between Realms (previously only accessible in a New Game+ run) and a resource bundle (500 Hacksilver and 250 XP)
The Last of Us Part II Remastered +50 points to activate bonus features and unlock extras. Jordan’s Jacket from Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet as a skin for Ellie
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Gain access to Nora Valiant outfit

Those "bribes" are pathetic as fuck. If you're going to bribe me, do it right. I don't want your stupid skins.

Seriously. Especially for Spider-Man 2, as it only gives you suits that you'll already unlock from playing the game normally.

They did the same thing for the first game.

Still, glad they're making it optional at all.

Edit: I'm also kinda glad that it's not something that's like, actually "exclusive" to tying your PSN to the game, like a costume that you can't get by regularly playing the game.

They probably don't want to give anything to pc players that playstation players don't have, so they just give a pre order style bonus.

Way back when this controversy started I said they should do exactly this, Sony should just hire me and save a lot of money. 90% of the people would take a selfie of their buttholes for a pretty new skin while the rest can just ignore it because who the fuck cares, it's a win-win situation

Once bitten, twice shy.

I am aggressively hoping that this also means they release them on GOG like they did with early PC ports. It is genuinely why I've been holding out on most recent Sony ports (and Yakuza games, Sega, I did notice).

preparing wallet

I've strategically bought the games that dropped the requirement, I'm hoping they get the message from here on.
