An unofficial chapter of the popular Dull Men's Club.

https://dullmensclub.com/

1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This is not a search engine
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.

Some other communities to consider before posting:

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

I think they are great, my wife, not so much. I'm sad that they are only being offered for National Soup month.

What the hell are soup drops? National Soup month?? Is this a shitpost?

[–] Lemmynated@lemmy.zip 46 points 4 weeks ago

No this is a souppost.

[–] deepfriedchril@lemmy.world 14 points 4 weeks ago

No no, they are real and I actually like them.

[–] don@lemm.ee 11 points 4 weeks ago

Negative. Regret to inform friend that this shit is, in fact, real.

[–] GooberEar@lemmy.wtf 1 points 2 weeks ago

They're basically bouillon but fashioned to be used as suppositories.

If there were no abominations such as this, how I ask, would we know paradise?

It is in fact strange and I can see how it's not for everyone, but I like them.

I would 100% buy these if they came in Thai tom yum soup flavor

[–] iltoroargento@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 4 weeks ago

Similarly, Tom Kha has always been my go to cold/hangover cure. It's immediately refreshing and I always feel physically better after eating/drinking it. The spices, ginger, and coconut do some heavy lifting for sure

[–] deepfriedchril@lemmy.world 6 points 4 weeks ago

That would be amazing.

[–] TootSweet@lemmy.world 13 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

Are they... sweet? Like... soup candy? Or are they more meaty and salty and savory like... well... soup tends to be?

[–] don@lemm.ee 8 points 4 weeks ago

From what I remember seeing posted before about them, they are salty. And apparently the flavor is rather bad.

NB: I’ve never tried them, and have no experience with soup… candy…

um.

[–] deepfriedchril@lemmy.world 6 points 4 weeks ago

There is a hint of sweetness from the isomalt, but overall they are savory.

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 6 points 4 weeks ago

I thought this was a meme. TIL

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

But wouldn't it just taste like cold/lukewarm soup? Sure there are some soups that are served cold or whatever, but it ain't Progresso.

[–] deepfriedchril@lemmy.world 4 points 4 weeks ago

No, not quite. It's the same as if you were eating a hard candy, just savory instead of sweet.

[–] Infynis@midwest.social 3 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Did you also watch Seth Meyers try them?

[–] deepfriedchril@lemmy.world 3 points 4 weeks ago

I don't know who that is.

[–] jet@hackertalks.com 3 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

What are the ingredients? I hope it's not too exciting

[–] deepfriedchril@lemmy.world 5 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Isomalt, Salt, Cornstarch, Monosodium Glutamate, Powdered Cooked Chicken, Natural and Artificial Flavor, Chicken Fat, Palm Oil, Potassium Chloride, Spices and Coloring, Citric Acid, Disodium Guanylate, Disodium Inosinate, Carmel Color, Maltodextrin!

Just like Mom used to make!

I had no idea what isomalt is :https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isomalt

Isomalt is a sugar substitute, a mixture of the two disaccharide alcohols 1,6-GPS and 1,1-GPM. It is used primarily for its sugar-like physical properties. It has little to no impact on blood sugar levels, and does not stimulate the release of insulin.

The main ingredient is a artificial sugar! Neat.

[–] deepfriedchril@lemmy.world 6 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Yea, it's because it's not nearly as sweet as real sugar but can still act as the proper binder for the "candy"

[–] scutiger@lemmy.world 2 points 4 weeks ago

Just be careful. Sugar alcohols like isomalt can cause stomach issues and diarrhea.
