“The USA has major deficits with Canada, Mexico, and China (and almost all countries!), owes 36 Trillion Dollars, and we’re not going to be the ‘Stupid Country’ any longer,” he wrote. “MAKE YOUR PRODUCT IN THE USA AND THERE ARE NO TARIFFS!”

This dumb mother fucker has no clue what the differece between a trade deficit and a national debt is.

[–] adarza 44 points 5 days ago

we’re not going to be the ‘Stupid Country’ any longer,”

so he and his comrades are all gonna mass quit?

[–] [email protected] 19 points 5 days ago (2 children)

He doesn't know a lot of things.

  • He doesn't know how tariffs work
  • He doesn't understand the difference between a budget deficit and the national debt.
  • He doesn't understand trade deficits
  • He doesn't understand how inflation works.
  • He doesn't understand how supply chains work.
  • He doesn't understand how international treaties work.
  • He doesn't understand geopolitics.
  • He doesn't understand the concept of "soft power".
  • He believes that he is the de-facto leader of the rest of the world.
  • He thinks that he can just make proclamations and the rest of the world will just roll over and obey.

And I'm not making up a list to just mock Trump. If I were doing that, I'd add things like "He does not know how to sexually pleasure a woman" and "He does not know what an appropriate amount of spray-tan is." That is just the beginning of a long list of concepts that a seasoned politician needs to have mastered but Trump just objectively doesn't understand. And he's the one in charge now.

And I'm saying he doesn't understand it in the way that an a chimp will still try to cram a square peg into a round hole because they do not grasp concepts like "Square", "Circle", or the difference between them.

You forgot a few things. He has no idea how the US Government operates, it's not a private business. He has no idea what a President does, or how to be one. And he keeps repeating that 'illegal' immigrants are dangerous crazy criminals because he thinks 'asylum' means the crazy house. He does not know what seeking asylum means.

The man’s go-to strategy for literally everything is to fuck it up, declare bankruptcy, hold everything up in court, and brag about his success while shilling merch. This much, he knows very well, and the US is just another business venture at the great capitalist gangbang.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 5 days ago (1 children)

He does. He just knows his supporters don't.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 5 days ago

No he doesn't. This man has never so much as given a whiff of having any idea what the fuck he's talking about.

The man literally does not understand how tariffs work, and is creating a whole new government department to prove it. He literally thinks tariffs are something that the host country pays to the purchasing country, and we're all just going to start receiving these enormous checks from countries all over the world any day now.

We're about to kick millions of workers out of our economy and "create" hundreds of thousands of jobs. How TF are these jobs supposed to get filled?

j/k

I know this is why they're trying to cut safety nets, encourage pregnancy, and normalize child labor.

[–] [email protected] 40 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Normally, I'd say something like "isn't this basically what Trump promised to save everybody from, and why voters voted Biden out of office?"

But I can't do that here. Because Trump actively campaigned on making economic matters worse. Elon Musk said years of "hardship" on poor people was the plan. And the voters said "Yes, I would like more of that because the solution to the economic hardship I'm already going through is even more economic hardship!". Because I guess the economic hardship that Trump was promising was only supposed to affect "them".

And we all know what I mean when I say "them".

And now reality is hitting. Something something leopards, something something faces.....

But I'm sure as far as they're concerned, it's all Biden's fault.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 5 days ago

They have been uniquely open about their plans to make economic experience worst for most people, but even so, I still suspect it will end up badly for them. We might say “hey the voters were informed” but a.) they almost certainly assumed that it would not be them who felt pain and b.) the voting public as a mass consciousness tends to operate on fairly simple stimulus-response dynamics, and the most important of those dynamics is the “feel bad about economy> vote out incumbent” pathway. So basically just, you can be honest about nuking the economy and promise some promised land on the other side, but if said promise land does not materialize well before elections, you’re probably cooked.

'But Gaza... ?'

Dumbfucks gotta dumbfuck I guess.

CNN —

A day after signing steep new tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China, President Donald Trump acknowledged what economists, members of Congress and even some of his own aides — in their previous lives — have been saying all along: Americans may find themselves paying the costs.

What’s missing from this list?

Exercise for budding journalists and media owners.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 days ago (1 children)

There have been many news articles going back to Trump's trade war with China and "Mexico will pay to build the wall" in his first term explaining that tariffs are a tax on consumers. Journalists report this by quoting experts.

Journalists don't "say things." They report on what others have said.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Absolutely disagree.

Journalists report, interpret, package, and contextualize which is backed by a trust in the professions structure of training and ethics. Before the profession had its rug pulled out by venture owners and public ignorance of the value of news anyway.

They reported ad nauseam that others were warning. They didn’t do nearly enough warning themselves. They turned into news repeaters, not journalists.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 days ago

I am 95% sure we've had this exact discussion previously. May 6-9 months ago.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

"All of you peasants will suffer and some of you will die, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make."

Why is it when fascists talk of "pain" to come it's for everyone else? I'm sure tax cuts are in the works for his Nazi backers to make sure they don't have to cut back on the number of vacation homes.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Yep, and I think fElon talked about "living within our means", IIRC, before the election in regards to this breaking of the economy. This is fElon, who is on the verge of becoming a trillionaire.

Remember: we had some of the very best economic indicators before these edgelords seized power. How much you want to bet they'll end up even richer after they buy the dip?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Disaster Capitalism used to just mean assholes taking financial advantage of disasters. Now these fascists have started actually creating the disasters. The draining of California reservoirs should accomplish that nicely this coming summer. Trump's tariffs, Musk's take over of the Treasury systems and the coming interruption of Obamacare, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security should be VERY profitable for all of them.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Reminds me next time someone tells me how "hard" a CEO's job supposedly is - how many companies does fElon have? And he has all day and all night to be xitting on xitter AND to supposedly run this operation for "government efficiency"? I guess being a CEO is some kind of part time job, in actual reality. At least for some companies.

I now just LOL when some capitalist simp tells me how "hard" CEOs "work" and tell them fElon has entered the chat and ask them to explain that.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 4 days ago

Here are some numbers to consider.

The US sold $441 billion worth of goods and services to Canada in 2024.

Canada sold $482 billion worth of goods and services to the US in 2024.

The US has a populating of 334.9 million people.

Canada has a population of 40.1 million people.

Per capita, every American man, woman, and child spent $1,316.81 on Canadian goods and services.

Candians spent $12,019. 95 on American good and services.

Who isn't pulling their weight in this trading relationship?

This isn't about illegal immigration and it isn't about the 20 lbs of fentanyl that tried to cross the border from Canada.

This is about the billionaire class raising taxes on the poor and raising prices for Americans.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Can we arrest Trump and all his ghouls yet? Please?

[–] [email protected] 18 points 4 days ago

No, and we never will. People like this end in 1 of 3 ways, a bullet in the head, the end of a rope, or in their bed. With the current apathy of the American people and the wealth supporting this shit-filled cunt he will die in his bed probably with a smile on his face content with his legacy.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago

Let's make him not have skin, instead.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 5 days ago (2 children)

I'm sure this is just what the redhatters wanted. All that economic anxiety...amplified?

Right?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 days ago

Yes, because economic anxiety = racism, and with Elon’s Nazi salute that’s going exponential.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago

We need to practice our arguments and make it clear that Trump's Tariffs are to blame for the economic hardship we are all about to face.

We also need to prepare arguments that show how Trump's handlers benefit from this. Elon Musk is going to get richer from something here and we need to connect it.

Stellantis is ex, one of Teslas biggest EV rivals but now is going to be hurt by these tariffs more than Tesla.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 5 days ago (1 children)

But the pain will be worth it because incoherent cryptofascist bullshit and America will be the Greatest America of all time.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

At this point is it even crypto-fascism anymore?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 days ago

I think they meant christofascist.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I figure you are probably kidding, but honestly, if someone under enough "pain" does end up coming after the likes of donvict and fElon, no one should be surprised. That's what motivated the actual Luigi.

And if most others are suffering the same kind of pain, I also not be surprised if most of the nation is not all that sad about it. After watching that murder, you'd think a whole lot of elitists - donvict and fElon - in a land of easy access to all the guns you want would be just a bit more nuanced and careful about what they are doing, but neither of them strike me as very smart. I know the myth of fElon being some kind of technical genius still prevails, but even that is horseshit, and even if he was, he doesn't seem all that proficient when it comes to understanding humans. And then there is donvict, known for staring directly into the sun, right after he was probably told not to.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Just a reminder that there have already been actual attempts on the donvict himself as well as alledged ones on fElon. I suspect that whoever ultimately does will end up being someone who voted for this.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago

Yup, I agree. They are usually the ones that are the most unbalanced, and also tend to be the ones that own the most guns. If a lot of them start figuring out that donvict is actually trying to do everything to fuck them over now that he won....well, let's just say I would not want to be any of these broligarchs or donvict...

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 days ago

Hope those eggs are still cheap though...

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

He ain't talking only of financial pain. He's talking of causing physical pain to his enemies. Take everything he says as warning.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

You simply cannot create more profits for the rich without making the poor suffer even more.

The tariffs will feed tax breaks for the top 5%.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Oh they won't produce nearly enough to do that by themselves. They will cut support to the poor to do that

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

I never ruled that out. Maybe I should have written "The Tariffs will feed even more tax breaks".

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 days ago

Because thats exactly what we want. An elected official that brings pain to us.

/s

I swear to fucking god if the democrats ever see the inside of the White House again, and they don’t make psychological evaluations for all conservative voters a mandatory part of the election process I’m going to lose my shit.
