From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

I chuckled at this bit:

The breakage should nevertheless be fixed as soon as possible, ideally before the breakage reaches Linus.

lol.. it does make it sound like they are trying to hide things from him, but I don't think that's the intention... it probably means "before the branch with the breakage has to be reviewed / tested / checked by the main person merging branches from each subsystem into mainline (Linus)"

Reads more like if you made a mess as a kid and cleaned up before your parents came home. The state between when they leave and when they arrive is up for experimentation.

Yeah. Nothing about this is dishonest. It's just a normal dev cycle.
