Does anyone know how I can fix this? For some reason there is a Firefox URL bar floating over the search bar. Trying to learn my way around Matrix/Element, and this is kind of getting in the way.

Thanks to @[email protected], @[email protected], and @[email protected]. Ok, so I've ditched Mintchat. Having a look at Nheko . . . is there a decent Matrix client that is more like Signal? In my old age I find it a bit bewildering to keep up with all the bells and whistles that Element seems to have. It was a major effort to get everyone I know on to Signal, and I don't expect them to migrate again to Matrix, although I'm thinking about using it so I can bridge SMS phone messages to my desktop (I barely know what I'm talking about here). I could also bridge Signal to Matrix I guess, but it sounds like that might be kind of insecure . . . what do you think? And then there's Beeper . . . 🤔

Matrix is more comparable to Discord and IRC. But check out Fractal. It’s got a minimalistic interface that will likely be more to your tastes. It’s still in beta though, so some functionality isn’t present yet. But what’s there was stable when I tried it.

As for bridging, I have no clue.

Firefox does not support web apps. But Linux Mint wanted web apps and they molded Firefox into kinda supporting it. But it's not perfect.

Personally, I would recommend either using Chromium for web apps or installing the Element desktop app.

Thanks! Did I remember someone recommending somewhere to use Element X instead of just plain Element, or did I dream it? 🤔

I recommend Nheko for a native matrix client.

@zdhzm2pgp

I deleted it and installed the Element Flatpak.

It works.
