Decided to check after I posted this and found that it was non-comital and later retracted/disavowed. You're absolutely right though, it's always wait and see.
As the chief lawmaker can he point to the laws that protect corporations from boycotts and where the public are forced to buy from these same companies. This whole political speech BS while in office (or even in campaigning has jumped the shark) needs to be stopped and accountability laws should be in place for all elected officials (and appointments).
He probably bought the Tesla using US government money.
