Captured with the Rodenstock 50mm Digaron lens and about 13mm of vertical shift to maintain the geometry (but several architectural features - setbacks and tapers in the building design - still make it appear to converge toward the top).

Pittsburgh's 42 story "Cathedral of Learning" houses offices and classrooms for the University of Pittsburgh. Completed in 1937, it took 11 years to construct. It remains the tallest academic building in the US.

The lobby is also gorgeous, and worth a visit.

Thanks. I have fond memories of running Fortran programs on IBM 7090 there in late 1960s, for vacation job up the street.
It ran UMES, and of course MAD.

Ngl, it's a great shot, but it still doesn't do the place justice. There's something about that behemoth of a building that never comes though via photo.

@[email protected] I'm from a town that's about an hour and a half north of Pittsburgh so we had to go down there for the hospital, the airport etc. but I've never seen that building in real life. If I ever get back to Pittsburgh I have something to look forward to, thanks!
