Boycott US

Overview:

The community dedicated to boycotting the US until they stop fascism, restore full democracy and start following international law.

Americans have a moral obligation to resist Donald Trump and project 2025 at every turn.

America is a flawed democracy currently being ruled by oligarchs. Stop the backslide! Dont let America become the next Hungary.

America needs to challenge the court rulings of citizens united v. fec and shelby county v. holder, protect the media, implement independent district drawing, and the single transferable vote so they don't end up having people stay home in life-changing elections because they cannot vote for their favourite candidate.

You must be crazy to travel to the USA - you could end up in god knows where.

You might even end up in a really dangerous place.....like the USA!!!

Oh, they're going to tourist-y places, not schools or houses of worship.

Just waiting for the headline: "Mickey Mouse on rampage, kills dozens at Disney World"

Yep. Please stay away.

(and as an American, we can look forward to any border crossing being one way)

If Canada will have us. They might build a wall.

If Canada will have us

As long as you are polite and not MAGA, then you will be as welcome as any visitor is.

boycotting is more like a low risk personal choice, when avoiding the US may to do to with preventing possible bad time

I refuse to patronise the ICE facilities just because I've been shitposting about Trump.

Some guy in the White House said the US doesn't need us or our stuff. Then fine, our money will be used to grow our own economy.

and this, unlike tariffs, is actually money coming in that's being lost, vs simply be re-distributed.

so. much. winning. i can't take any more.

Only -10% in March, year on year. I was surprised it's only down by that much, but the lots of people plan their trips a long time in advance and canceling can be complicated. I wonder what the summer will bring.

Well with all the tourist/work visa suprise jails stories that happen right now it does not surprise me. Plus the boycott due to tariff and other diplomatic masterclass

if you believe this guy's account, the border guys are just getting more brazen.

He says the official then told him: “Trump is back in town; we’re doing things the way we should have always been doing them.

I remember having border fun way back in the day (2012?) and I'm Canadian and had a TN1 visa and was just doing some contract work in New York just for a bit. One guy was just giving me shit. In his broken Vietnamese accent he said: "you are trying to come to our country to take our jobs". I'm half-Viet and I was like "I'm here to do a gig this week and will be going home" ... in my mind I was thinking ... "that's a weird thing to accuse me of with that accent ...."

Only $90 billion? I expected far more.

[–] kent_eh 1 points 4 days ago

We only started the boycott a couple months ago.

It's the travel advisories for me 🤷

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 days ago

I live here and I'm boycotting domestic travel. I'm scared to get anywhere near TSA right now. They might try and steal my passport if I get clocked

So a 10% hit on an already struggling economy and rocky hegemony. Loving the ratchet effect in the US.
