Elijah Manley was still a teenager when his frustration with President Trump pushed him to get involved in politics. Today, he's finally old enough to run for Congress. Upset with how his own Democratic Party is responding to Trump, he's decided to do just that.

That great news! Unfortunately my generation, including myself, did not step up.

Are you registered to vote?

[–] SirMaple__ 24 points 10 hours ago (21 children)

Good! That party needs a major shake up. Oh. And some damn balls(metaphorically speaking)

[–] [email protected] 10 points 8 hours ago

Yes to both of these. This is precisely what Democrats need.

Good news but also butterfly meme.

"Is this a pigeon?" meme labelled Mass media/Any politician under 60/Is this AOC?

[–] [email protected] 91 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

Please, we need to get people in office who are at least young enough to know how to use social media correctly

[–] [email protected] 52 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

At the very least people who were born AFTER color television.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

How about a simple test: if you remember Kent State happening, you're now too old for office.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

I’m 57. I remember where I was when Reagan was shot. I’m too old to be a politician.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 hours ago

No you aren’t.

There is no “too old to be a politician” since old people exist and need representation too.

We just ought to have representation that matches demographics, but that’s DEI and basically communism now or something

[–] [email protected] 8 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

Depends, were you celebrating Regan being shot?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 hours ago

Of course not. He lived

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 hours ago

I remember being bummed that the bullet wasn't just a little more to the side for effectiveness.

How about replacing Pelosi instead. We could use plenty like AOC tho.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Jesus tap dancing Christ, I thought she left Congress when she gave up the speakership! Amazing and disappointing to learn differently…

Critical that the next generation are immune to AIPAC. That is the only way to break free of the Zionist chokehold

[–] [email protected] 49 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

They need to be immune to so many different PACs. And they need to learn the lesson Biden and Kamala didn't: you actually get more funding my courting us, the people, than you do the corporations. Yeah, the corporations have more money, and they'll give you some, but they'll give more to the republican candidate, and what's more, there's more of us.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 hours ago

You're high as a kite if you think a super pac doesn't have infinitely deeper pockets. They just bid the minimum for these politicians. If millions of grass roots donors gave everything they could, it would be a rounding error for them to match it.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 16 hours ago (3 children)

DNC hasn’t conducted a legitimate presidential primary since 08. That is EIGHTEEN straight years of effyou from the DNC. No signs they plan on wavering anytime soon. Your next candidate will be anointed for you.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 hours ago (6 children)

Just because you didn’t like the outcome of an election doesn’t mean it wasn’t legitimate.

Trump is not even the problem, he's better than most GOP.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 6 hours ago

Trump is a bell weather that the post-WW2 Breton Woods paradigm is over. That's all he is. We are going to either go through crazy poltico-socioeconomic change or be crushed under the weight of our own inflexibility.
