This season is making me increasingly nervous because the first 4 episodes have all been pretty good. It's an established fact that at least one episode per RTD season has to make you cringe so hard your skeleton leaves your body, so we all know it's coming. And if it's not next week's one or the Interstellar Song Contest one then it's gonna be the finale. My money's on the song contest though lol.

I didn't like it.
This season has been great because of Ncuti Gatwa's energy (I'm on the turn a bit, damn those outfits are cool) and while the stern interaction at the end was a nice ways of showing 14 can be serious as well, I didn't like the episode overall.
It's sort of reversing the roles of conspiracy nuts, and very clearly showing how they're wrong, in a time when we absolutely can't trust governments?
I know Dr Who was slowly transitioned into "oh the public is aware of aliens" diegetically, but for decades the government hid evidence of the Doctor and aliens, right? But now you're having to have activists showing that aliens are not real, when the problem so long was that people genuinely didn't remember even global events like the Earth being transported across the universe?
There should've been some vindication for activism in general, when it's so sorely needed in these times. This episode just left me with a taste of boot leather in my mouth.
I can't come up with any reasonable vindication story wise rn, but... there should've been some.
Idk.
true, I don't think it excludes the message that you can go against the government for good reasons though.
they could have told that story with the guy in 73 yards :) but kinda wrote with a bit of passive voice that sent a message more of "let someone else handle it"

Not explicitly, no. But... I've always enjoyed Dr Who for the implications.

Yeah this made me think of

I really hope they don’t do another episode like this too close to the reality we’re living in and it stressed me out and uncomfortable and on fun ways.
But disappointed it didn't have Shrek in it (I misread the synopsis before the episode loaded)
Decent episode, kinda average BUT I'm happy that this is the level we can call average now. It was a bit Boomer honestly - it's clearly an allegory about alt right conspiracy theorists, but the ending is way off. No-one would be convinced by having their leader get scared and admit it's lies - of course UNIT has the best special effects tech in their tower. Or maybe Connor didn't even go to the tower and the whole thing is fake.
Also, UNIT did arrest a group of people who basically just dressed up and flicked the lights on and off. It seems like the real reason for arrest was UNIT were embarrassed and their friend Ruby was scared. Not good behaviour for people in power (it was a horrible "prank" to play and definitely morally wrong, but I'm not sure it's worth being arrested by heavily armed police, or whatever UNIT are).

It was a co-ordinated effort to draw out a military response. Pulling a similar 'prank' on police or other emergency services is absolutely a crime (maximum penalty of up to six months in prison or a fine of £5,000), so the fact that he got arrested for it isn't that much of a stretch.
For me, the disconnect is in how this is supposed to 'prove' that it's a conspiracy. They fake an alien invasion, and the people who deal with alien invasions show up to deal with it. That doesn’t disprove aliens in the same way that a hoax call to the fire department doesn't disprove house fires. But I guess that's kind of the point, if you're in these kinds of echo chambers then logic gets ignored and replaced with whatever the face of the group is shouting.

That's a fair reading of the situation I think
Hey so not a bad episode a breather from rush around with Belinda and a look at the post companion life.
