Drives me up the fucking wall that procedural content is still treated like some novel secret. Red Dead Redemption 2 shipped on two entire Blu-Ray discs despite being set in the wild west. Half of that had to be textures. That is thirty gigabytes of dirt. Just dirt and wood and rocks and a sprinkling of human skin for flavor.
When .kkreiger dropped, I figured the whole damn industry would take the hint, and pivot to itty-bitty textures defined by rules. Nope! More artists, fatter bitmaps, crunch crunch crunch crunch. I'd suspect deliberate exclusion of competition by maintaining high budgets, but I don't believe executives are that smart or that organized.
