I've recently switched to a more privacy-friendly environment, getting rid of most proprietary apps and looking for their FOSS alternatives. While I did find adequate replacements for the most of the apps, are were a few that I couldn't solve on my own. I'd really appreciate your help. ❤️
Due to changes in our community's rules and respect for its members, I decided not to post (google play) links and instead write a brief summary of each app.
-
1. Zoom Earth - Live Weather Map
an interactive weather map of the world and a real-time hurricane tracker
2. Vibrons
an app that lets you to design different notifications sound for your apps, so you can easily recognize notifications that matter to you.
3. My Track
an app that offers high-accuracy route tracking (and map) that follows streets and trails, records pauses, and monitors speed, making it an ideal choice for activities like hiking, especially if you want to revisit your favorite trails.
4. Moovit: Bus & Train Schedules / Citymapper
simply an app that offers public transportation schedules and helps in navigating / planning routes ; pretty helpful for those who travel a lot
5. 1 Edge
a Floating Window Edge Panels app, much like Samsung Edge
6. Gesture Suite
an app that lets you to define tasks through simple gestures. For example, drawing a letter can perform actions like returning to the home screen, opening an app or calling a specific contact.
7. Media Bar
an app that transforms your system's status bar into a media playback controller and progress indicator.
8. Pestle *
a new approach to recipe management - it simplifies the process of saving online recipes with a share button. The app then rewrites them in a note-like format, and tailors the organization to suit your preferences
9. Nap: notification manager
an app that stores and organizes your notifications, allowing you to read messages without needing to open them
10. Locket
an app for sharing photos to friends’ homescreens; it's like a messaging app, but exclusively for sharing pictures with selected contacts, which then display as widgets on your screen.
11. Tap Scroll
a very simple app that allows you to scroll up with a double tap on the status bar and scroll down with a single tap.
12. Type Keeper / Clipboard
as much as it might be a security risk, I frequently find myself copying a link to something and then forgetting to send or save it. It would be quite useful if there was an app that could save those links (or just anything you copy) locally, until you decide to delete it. Something like a clipboard manager.
other:
13. Screen Recorder
14. SMS / Contacts Backup & Restore - when switching to a new device

My goal is not to promote any of these apps, but rather to find suitable FOSS alternatives and maybe share some new and interesting concepts - which may be of interest to developers searching for new ideas!
This list is made up of proprietary apps - I'm not looking for other proprietary replacements (whether they are offline or not)! Do not suggest apps that are not open source. If possible, include the link of apps F-Droid page or source code repository.
Thank you in advance! ❤️
