It seems like a weird question, but other than a couple of users who I recognize on Lemmy, the rest seems to be robotic.

I don't see a lot of creativity or uniqueness.

Why is that?

The few exchanges I have had so far (here on Piefed and on Lemmy) have been rather positive/interesting. A few could even be the start of a lot more interesting discussions but have yet to mature, which is absolutely fine. Like already suggested by another commenter, we probably need to give it some more time to grow. Meanwhile, we can do our best to start making it feel more lively already.

Give it time… I feel like a lot of the creative web is sort of reawakening. A lot of the existing web and social media encourages and models this kind of slot machine interaction and I think it will take some time for people to come back to a more contributory tradition.

That's not been my experience, have you tried blocking the IT based communities? I've found it great here
