I love how everyone believes that there's breeding in this game... If you think there's breeding... it's literally in your head. You're the problem.
I think you're laser-focusing on a weirdly specific thing, I think it's just a joke. Gita clearly enjoys the game, the subheader is just a funny elevator pitch for the game.
I know the official term is "legacy Umamusume" but everyone I've seen talk about them who played the Japanese release calls them "parents."

I think they all think it's the legacy girls.
I guess because the colors are blue and pink that they're going to somehow breed? But the "in game" answer is that it's your characters "inspiration".
They can call it what they want to deflect scrutiny, but the fact is that it mirrors breeding mechanics from other games, like FF7's chocobo breeding. So calling it "breeding" as a joke is not really that wild or unusual.
The article is kinda lame. There is no breeding in any form. Check Conception games, that's breeding.
Anyway, the game is great and fun. I saw many people saying "either stay F2P or go whale" and I agree. There is no reason to spend money on it. Progression speed is fine in my opinion.
I don't even watch real horse racing and now I see why some people enjoy it. Horse-girls are more fun though, since it has a lot of story elements.
