Some time ago I made the start of a front-end app store, but now is just sitting on my computer so if anyone wants to use it for anything contact me nd we can talk.

This is interesting since I did a search some days ago for this and found nothing, thank you!

This sounds interesting. I would be curious as to the federated features that are included. If you want to brainstorm I invite you to create a post on [email protected].

PS. In the SocialHub companion to that space, I outlined an idea to use the Murmurations protocol to auto-collect lists in directories, where the resources (apps in this case) advertise themselves to be included in directories that are interested in them. In Murmurations there's also an intriguing use case for the Index server to be federated.

My coding level are just HTML and basic CSS and in terms of theory of protocols its not very big but I would be interested to know what you talking about. I posted my start of a front-end in GitHub so if you want to have a look go ahead.

The brainstorm itself need not be anything technical. The Lemmy side of Fediverse Futures is purely for ideation. So the idea would be imagining what the concept of a "Federated App Store" would look like for people that use it.

The Murmurations use case in that story would look something like:

  • I want to announce my app to the world.
  • So I write a Murmurations profile and attach it to my project website. Done!

Then a federated app store:

  • I am interested in collecting [this and that] apps in my store.
  • Apps announce themselves to me via their profile.
  • I federate my app index for other stores, if they are interested. Done!

Oh I see. I'm not creating it tho, I'm just giving my front-end as an open source project for anyone to use it. I spent a long time on that and thought it would be a waste to just be sitting here on my computer. Code is code, and if someone gives it a good life I'm happy for it :D

Throw it up on a git host and drop a link in here.

Here is the link: https://github.com/Zoe8338/RetroSquare-Revamped/ I've used GitHub because of their desktop app which made it easy to upload the code.

I was thinking on that but I don't know how, is it possible if you could help me?

I'd be happy to, but I'm about to step out for the day. Here is a pretty solid guide to get started, just replace GitHub with your choice of host: FreeCodeCamp: Learn the Basics of Git in Under 10 Minutes

Alright thank you! I'll make sure then to post here the link.

Hello Zoë Tech Corner, as a newcomer to this forum, I chanced upon your offer and found it highly captivating. Though time has passed, I believe federated app store could still be of relevance to my project Andersen. I would appreciate your perspective on it. I would relish the opportunity to discuss the matter further with you, kindly reach out to me at your earliest convenience.

You're free to use it as long as it's original repo it's mentioned on the license.
