Eh let them at this point. I've noticed over the last few years that reddit has gone from a "lets look at memes to cat pictures" to "rage all the time" mode. Either side of the political spectrum, it's all outrage porn. All to drive clicks. I know lemmy isn't as big, but I don't get panic attacks from the constant doom scrolling either.
Just wait until they start killing porn subs before (or shortly after) going IPO to be more advertiser friendly... That will be a glorious shitshow and the true stresstest for Lemmy.
I've already started to wean myself off reddit, as I'm sure they wot back down. they never have from ever bad decision, ever since I moved there from digg 15 years ago. and reddit has really gone downhill in terms of the environment. it's become really hostile and toxic, and I don't really mind leaving when this place is such a nice alternative.
lemmy feels a lot like reddit did all those years ago, and I'm happy to join a new community and help it grow. it feels like it's time.
