I think it's actually a Clementine fork, but I agree 100% that it's fantastic. I would even speak highly of the Windows build. I was really happy to use a player that supports moodbar again.

A few years back I had been recommended Clementine, and simply stayed with it. Recently realized Strawberry was the same idea but better and without all the annoying bugs. Can recommend!

I'm a fan of Audacious, myself. It's an XMMS1 fork and inherits a ton of functionality from that venerable app—audio file formats, effects, skins, and so on.

Strawberry is pretty neat, I used to use it. I tend to always go back to VLC though.

VLC is so strongly hardcoded as a video player in my mind that it always baffles me when someone uses it for playing music. I mean, I know it can handle it, it just feels... wrong.

There is a playlist feature built in. It also has a "My music" and "My pictures" section. Screenshot. Just press ctrl+L

I've not used Amarok since KDE 3.5 days, maybe I should give it a shot. I'm currently using Elisa.

It's extremely feature rich compared to Elisa
