Mainly mastodon and lemmy but other places are fine

Just to add - you’re more likely to find interesting people on mastodon. You’re more likely to find interesting communities on lemmy.

If you're looking for people on fedi.. Idk about 'big', but there's a ton of individuals out there. If you're on masto, and ask a #helpWanted #pleaseBoost post along the lines of "Where's my lgbtqia+ fam at?", they'll chime in.
